In search of the average Indian woman The NFHS suggests the typical Indian woman is married, unemployed and lives in a village. We travelled to a village in Rajasthan to put a face to the data.Mint set out to meet just such a woman, whose life comes closest to the aam aurat’s experience. We found a story of diminishing constraints, but not enough freedom.
