'Violence breeds violence': Israeli-Palestinian conflict requires 'political & diplomatic' solution A Hamas militant rammed his car into a crowded Tel Aviv bus stop Tuesday and began stabbing people, wounding eight in an attack that Palestinian armed groups called revenge for an Israeli military offensive in the occupied West Bank. A bystander shot and killed the attacker. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated the operation in the Jenin refugee camp, one of the most intense in the territory in nearly two decades, was winding down. But he gave no details on when it would end and vowed to carry out similar operations in the future. For in-depth analysis and a deeper perspective on the latest wave of violence plaguing the Middle East, FRANCE 24's François Picard is joined by Yossi Mekelberg, Associate Fellow of MENA Programme at Chatham House in London, and FRANCE 24 correspondent Irris Makler reporting from Jerusalem. Mr. Mekelberg asserts that "there's no military solution" to Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "We should bring the two people to sit at the negotiating table, once and for all," he explains, "to resolve their outstanding issues between them. We should recognize Palestinian self-determination, end the occupation, and insure there is security for every human being, albeit Israeli or Palestinian, between the Jordanian River and the Mediterranean Sea.
