UK’s Starmer praises Meloni’s ‘remarkable progress’ in stemming Italy’s illegal migration Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday praised his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni for her efforts to go after the gangs that profit from illegal immigration and which has resulted in a 60 percent drop in the number of illegal migrant arriving to Italy by sea. Starmer said the two countries would from now on work closer together on the issue and would share data and intelligence with each other. The british leader also expressed interest in Italy’s plans to process some asylum claims offshore, in two centres that are due to open in Albania.
