Turkish political refugees in Sweden: Erdogan's shadow looms over dissidents In December, Sweden extradited Mahmut Tat, a Turkish Kurd whom Ankara accuses of belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which it considers a terrorist organisation. The move has added to the fears of Turkish nationals living in Sweden. For months, Ankara has been saying it will lift its veto on NATO membership for Sweden only if Stockholm changes its asylum policy.
