Sudan fighting: Gunfire, air strikes rock Khartoum as clashes intensify Fierce fighting continued in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Monday with air strikes, artillery and gunfire ringing out. Since April, Sudan’s military, and the paramilitary group, Rapid Support Forces, have been locked in a violent conflict. Sudan’s Doctors’ Syndicate estimates that 860 civilians hav been killed in the fighting. Last Friday warring sides agreed to a 24-hour cease-fire which ended at 6am on Sunday morning.
