Sudan conflict: 125,000 refugees in Chad, 90% of which women and children Over 400 thousand people have fled Sudan since the fighting erupted, about a quarter of whom are now in Chad. It's one of the poorest countries in the world and the govt and aid agencies are struggling to cope. To tell us a bit more, FRANCE 24 is joined by Elise Kakam, Deputy Representative for the United Nations' Population Fund - based in Chad. UN's Population Fund is focused on reproductive and maternal health and is been trying to assist vulnerable pregnant women - who have crossed the border from Sudan.
