‘Success and self-confidence’: Iran’s nose job boom Iran is at the centre of a boom in women seeking nose surgeries. Some 264,000 cosmetic operations were performed in the country in 2023, with rhinoplasty the most common. Surgeon Hamidreza Hosnani, who carries out 15 to 20 procedures a week at his busy Tehran clinic, says that in a country where women are subject to strict dress codes, the beauty industry has become almost entirely centred on the face, while sculpted noses have become increasingly tied to social status.
