Russians queue to register election candidate opposed to Ukraine offensive As Russia gears up for presidential elections, former liberal lawmaker Boris Nadezhdin has emerged as an unlikely candidate for "peace" ahead of the vote. Thousands of Russians across the country have been lining up to register his name to challenge President Vladimir Putin at the ballot box in March. Should he gain enough signatures to stand, he will be the only candidate opposed to the war in Ukraine.
