Nigeria President Bola Tinubu urges patience after fuel subsidy crisis President Bola Tinubu is urging Nigerians to be patient - amid a spike in petrol and food prices. The economic upheaval follows Tinubu's decision to end a long-standing fuel subsidy on his first day in office, last month. He argues the subsidy kept the price of petrol artificially low but at too-high a cost for the govt to bare. (Last year it totalled some 10 billion dollars).
