Niger negotiations reach 'difficult point' as junta refuses ECOWAS visit Niger coup leaders on Tuesday refused a visit from ECOWAS delegation set to arrive for diplomatic talks citing security concerns due to “public anger” against the West African group. “Negotiations are at a difficult point,” says FRANCE 24’s Catherine Norris-Trent reporting from Cotonou, Benin. “Heads of state from ECOWAS will be meeting in Abuja [Nigeria] this Thursday… we’ll have to wait and see what comes out of that [meeting].”
