Morocco earthquake: The situation in Marrakesh and for remote communities closer to the epicentre Three days after suffering a powerful earthquake, foreign aid and rescue teams are continuing with efforts to find survivors amid the rubble of destroyed villages in Morocco’s Atlas mountains. Close to 2,500 people were killed and hundreds of others injured, many critically. The epicentre of the 6.8-magnitude quake was below a series of mountainous villages, some 60 kms south of Marrakech.
