Macron could end up ‘sandwiched’ between RN and left-wing coalition Contrary to what President Emmanuel Macron had envisioned when he called for early elections Sunday, Macron and his party Renaissance could end up "sandwiched" between the far right and a unified left-wing coalition, FRANCE 24's Marc Perelman said. “Out of the 577 seats, it shows that 536 of them – so essentially 90 percent – you will have National Rally candidates versus leftist candidates,” Perelman said, citing projections from French daily Le Figaro, adding that it would be a "nightmare scenario" for Macron.
