Guinea political dialogue: Prospect of elections still seem far off Two years ago, in Guinea, coup leader Mamadi Doumbouya toppled the deposed regime of Alpha Condé. But today, the dialogue between the opposition, civil society and the coup leaders seems more broken than ever. Colonel Doumbouya had pledged to ECOWAS, the Economic Community of West African States, to return power to civilians by the end of 2024.
