FRANCE 24 in Libya: Rebuilding Murzuq and Sebha after years of war The southern Libyan cities of Murzuq and Sebha have experienced more than a decade of instability. They have been the sites of several bouts of civil war and tribal conflicts since the 2011 uprising and NATO intervention. Today, a reconstruction fund led by Belgacem Haftar, the son of General Khalifa Hafter who rules over eastern Libya, is increasing its operations to rebuild these cities. It’s potentially a big step in cities nearby Libya’s economically important oil fields. FRANCE 24’s Lilia Blaise and Hamdi Tlili were able to visit the site exclusively.
