Argentina's LGBT community protest Milei's curbs on freedom At this year's carnival, Argentina's LGBT community is protesting recent setbacks in hard-fought freedoms since President Javier Milei took power in the country. Waging a war on what he calls "woke ideology"', Milei has repeatedly targeted the community, speaking out against diversity, homosexuality and feminism. On Wednesday, Argentina announced a ban on gender change treatments and surgeries for minors, as well as limits on trans women being housed inside women's prisons.
