'An act of resistance': Ukrainians living near front line amid war In the port city of Kherson located in southeast Ukraine, 85 percent of the population have left since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Some of the city's residents, however, have chosen to stay behind as an act of resistance despite regular shelling by Russian forces which are stationed across the Dnipro River.
